Understanding Styles of Truck Cabs Doesn't Have to be Complicated

If there were one industry standard to describe the different types of truck cabs, it would probably eliminate consumer confusion. Dealers like to inform truck owners about the difference in terminology and clarify any confusing aspects their customers might have. An informed consumer makes life easier for dealers too.

Trucks with just two doors are referred to as having a regular or standard cab. Four-door trucks with two fully-functioning doors are referred to as super or quad cabs, and trucks with four full-sized doors are called either crew or double cab. Some manufacturers, though, call this type of cab a super crew or extended cab. Trucks with extra-large four doors are usually referred to as having a mega or crewmax cab, but sometimes just crew cab.
