Ways to Prepare Your Vehicle to Tow a Camper

No matter how powerful your truck's engine, there are always ways to increase its efficiency and keep it from strain that would cause it to wear prematurely. Knowing your truck's towing capacity is just the first step in equipping it for towing things for short or long distances.

For large campers, a towing hitch that ties in to the vehicle's frame is preferable to one that is mounted on the bumper. Towing a fifth-wheel trailer will require mounting it directing onto the truck's bed. You'll also want to ensure the wiring between your truck and trailer has the appropriate connectors. You can also install helper springs to ease the load placed on your truck's shocks.

If you'd like to test drive a truck with a towing capacity ideal for pulling a camper, don't hesitate to visit us at Ted's Auto Sales. We can arrange for you to take the model of your choice out on the road and answer any questions you may have about equipping it for towing.
